Killeen sits at the edge of the Hill Country where wildflowers bloom every Spring.  Bluebonnets (the state flower) arrive first and bloom in late March and early April.  Then, the Indian Blanket and other wildflowers pop up and bloom through July.  They bloom in every empty field, along the interstate and back roads.  I am amazed how profuse they are every Spring because we have been in a drought situation for several years.  If the weather Gods would give us some rain, we would have a spectacular Spring instead of just a pretty one.  The design comes from Lorraine Koester, Redbird Designs for Cross Stitch.  "Our State Wild Flower III (Indian Blanket)
